Doris Soto-Rivas

It is with great sadness that we share with you all that our dearest Doris Soto-Rivas passed away after her long-fought cancer battle. Doris is survived by her three children Vanessa, Jacylin, and Christopher. Also, by her five grandchildren Ethan, Jacoby, Jovani, Tobin, and Isaiah.

Doris Soto-Rivas was born on July 26th, 1955, in Pharr, Texas. Her parents were Socorro Peña and Secundino Peña. She was the eldest of five siblings Maricela, Sonia, Rosalia, and Lino. They all moved to Oregon in 1974 when she graduated.

Some of her favorite past times were gardening and listening to music with her grandkids. Breakfast with her mother and sisters was always something she enjoyed as well. She loved listening to sermons whether in person, on her phone, or on the television. She truly was the woman spoken of in Proverbs 31 for she always carried herself that way, with or without a husband. God was her everything.

Most people will remember her as a mother, and not just her children. She mothered anyone she befriended, and she befriended many. She was the mother of the community. She was a mother to us all.

Her Celebration of Life will be held Saturday November 11th at 10:30 am at Salem Alliance Church in Salem, Oregon. All are welcome to remember her and share memories.
