

Dorothy Golden Sargent passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024 at the age of 94 years old in her home. Dorothy was born in Walla Walla, Washington to Ernest and Vera Stillwell on July 26, 1930. She married Robert Sargent on June 6, 1948 in Walla Walla, Washington. They were able to celebrate their 73rd wedding anniversary in June 6, 2021 before he passed on June 12th. Dorothy was a busy homemaker for her husband and 7 children as well as taking in various other family members and friends from time to time. Her cooking always kept them coming back for more. She was an avid crocheter and knitter. Many of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were presented with a handmade Afghan for a special occasion. Her handmade Barbie outfits won her many ribbons at fairs, including best of show. They landed in Vernonia, Oregon for a ministry that overlapped three different time periods covering many years. Dorothy supported and encouraged Bob through many years of traveling for job opportunities - packing, unpacking, having children and keeping hearth and home in one place. She worked for the San Jose Bible College for most of the 13 years Bob as Academic Dean there. The kids loved her potato salad and she enjoyed the teasing. Their last move was to Turner Retirement Homes in Turner, Oregon to be near their daughter and son. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, parents, brother, sons Ernest and Wayne Sargent, daughter Jeanie Haas and grandson James. She is survived by children: Peggy Stone, Ann Cecil, Annette Eggert, Dennis Sargent, and Steve Sargent, 14 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held at Turner Christian Church, Turner, Oregon, on January 18, 2025 at 1:00PM.
