

SALEM - Genevieve Louise Brown O’Neel passed away May 25, 2012 at the age of 90. Her parents were Orvis and Doris Brown. Genevieve was born and raised in Seattle, Washington until the age of 16, when she moved with her parents and brother to Hillsboro, Oregon.
There she met and married Alvin Keith O’Neel in 1941. They lived in Portland until Keith was drafted into the Army. During his time overseas she lived with her parents in Hanford and Richland, Washington.
Keith and Genevieve lived in Salem for 63 years. Genevieve worked for the State of Oregon, retiring from the Corrections Division in 1978.
During their retirement, they enjoyed many years of happy times. They loved to travel, camp, square dance, play cards, work in the yard, and participate in family and church activities. Since 2009 they have enjoyed an extended retirement at Lancaster Village.
Genevieve is survived by her husband of 71 years Keith; daughter Judith Louise (Melvin) Hasche of Shaw, Oregon; and son Wesley Guy (Zeta) O’Neel of Roseburg, Oregon. She was very proud of their two children, Judy and Wes, nine grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2 pm at Oak Park Community Church of God, 2990 Lancaster Dr. NE, Salem. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Willamette Valley Hospice, 1015 3rd St NW, Salem, OR 97304. Online condolences at HED-FH.com.
