James was born May 21, 1951 in Portland, OR. He passed away August 31, 2024 from heart complications. His parents Blanche and Walter Norton preceded him in death, as well as his oldest son Mathew.
Jim served 30 years in the United States Navy, retiring a commander. He served in Vietnam where he received the Purple Heart for his injuries while he was a corpsman helping a marine.
He went on to receive his Master's Degree in Hospital Administration. Jim was a devout Catholic and relied on his faith during his life. Jim loved camping, traveling and especially the Holiday Season every year.
Jim is survived by his wife Marie, his children TJ and Heather Norton, his sister, stepchildren Michael, Hannah and Jessica, as well as several grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
Memorial Sept. 18 at 11am at Virgil T. Golden Funeral in Salem, OR. Burial at Willamette National Cemetery at 3pm. Memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warrior or Tunnel to Towers.
