James "Jim" Edward Thompson passed away peacefully on December 2, 2020. He was born on October 22, 1944 to Norris and Marie (Tufteskog) Thompson in Silverton, Oregon. He graduated from Silverton High school in 1962 and attended Merrit Davis School of Business where he received a diploma in accounting. He worked at various mortgage companies in Salem and ended his accounting career at Willamette Valley Hospice. Jim married Linda Schroeder on February 17, 1968 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Silverton, Oregon and they shared 52 years of marriage together. He is survived by his wife Linda, daughter Amy Schlundt (Tom), two grandsons Zachary and Zane, and his sisters Shirley Jahn and Jeanne Bridges. He was preceded in death by his sisters; Mildred Mathis, Dorothy Swanson, and brothers; Norris Thompson and Richard Thompson. Jim loved spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, gardening, building projects and volunteering at his church. Services will be held at First Church of the Nazarene, Market Street, Salem, Oregon on December 18, 2020 at 1:00 pm. Interment will be at Valley View Cemetery in Silverton, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Church of the Nazarene or Union Gospel Mission.
