Jeff was born on October 11, 1957 in Henderson, Texas and is the son of JD and Mary Jane (Coates) Bynum. At age 11 he moved with his family to Portland, Oregon where he graduated from Marshall High School. He joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at age 19, and a year later was called to serve, and completed an honorable mission for the Church in Minnesota.
Jeff married Jill D. Sullivan on May 7, 1983 in the Seattle Temple, Bellevue, Washington. Five months later Jeff enlisted in the United States Army and honorably served our country as a Sargent for 6 years. He earned an Associate’s Degree from ITT Technical Institute in 1991 and worked as an engineering technician at various companies.
Jeff is a loving son, brother, friend, uncle, dedicated husband and a magnificent father. He is very humble and strong; a quiet, gentle giant who always gave amazing hugs to everyone. He enjoyed beautiful vibrant colors and the wonderful earth that we have all been blessed with. He enjoyed singing, cooking, hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, laughter, and storytelling. Jeff loved to fix cars and build computers. Jeff would drop everything to go and help anyone in need day or night. He also enjoyed exploring and having adventures, such as gold mining, in the great outdoors. He is devoted to his faith and served diligently in many callings over the years, and also served in The Boy Scouts of America.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Jill D., his children, Javid, Jared, Jaylene and J’nae (all of Woodburn), his brothers, Johnny H. of Tigard and Jimmy D. of Portland, his sisters, J. Deena of Oregon City, and Joyce D. of Silverton, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, JD and Mary Bynum, his youngest brother Joseph D., and his mother-in-law C.M. Pat (Anderson) Antuar who lived with them till Pat’s passing in September of 2014. Jeff dearly loves his entire family, all his friends, and the many Cutehearts children, whom he has a special place for, in his heart. Jeff will be deeply missed, but we know we will be with him again in heaven. We love you very much Jeff, Capiche!
