Joan Elizabeth Miller

June 30th, 2025, our beloved friend, mother and teacher Joan Elizabeth Miller passed away peacefully at the age of 80 here in Salem Oregon. Joan was born on October 25th, 1944, in New Jersey to Clarence and Inez, where she graduated high school and immediately set off for California to attend Whittier College. After graduation Joan and her college roommates came to Oregon where she continued her Master's in education at Western Oregon University. Joan dedicated her life to educating children of all walks of life. Starting her career at Candelaria Elementary and Mckinley elementary. She then went on to work at Highland and Washington Elementary working in the title one program teaching children how to read. She retired young and continued to volunteer with the Salem Keizer school district for another 10 years. She loved spending time traveling with family, her favorite destination being Maui. On the beach in her flip flops with a Pinot gris in her hand surrounded by her family. Joan is survived by her daughter Anandi Miller. Sister Marlyn Miller and niece Heidi Rudd. Joans celebration of life will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church August 2nd at 1pm.
