Joseph Anthony Calabria, a quiet and hardworking man, passed away surrounded by loved ones on April 9, 2012. He loved the outdoors where he could fish, have a dog by his side and create memories with his family.
Joseph was born December 29, 1933 in Martins Ferry, Ohio to Nick and Mary Calabria. He first met the love of his life, Ruth Harding, in high school. She described it as “love at first sight”. They married in 1955, enjoying many laughs and adventures together.
He was never one to sit still or rest on his laurels. He graduated Washington Jefferson College in 1957 and Penn State in 1963. Joseph was a man with many hats. He worked as a teacher and owned multiple businesses including restaurants and golf courses.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth; son, Mark (Ann) Calabria; daughter, Mary (Gary); grandchildren, Kelsey and Michael and great-grandson, Vincent.
Joseph was not one for fanfare, but the family asks for those who would like to celebrate his life to join them for the Cryptside Service at Restlawn Memory Gardens Friday, April 13 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice. Arrangements by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors www.HED-FH.com.
