Joyce E. Herren

KEIZER - Joyce E. Herren, 87, died Friday in Salem, Oregon. She was born in Astoria, Oregon and spent most of her life in Salem/Keizer. On December 13, 1943 she married the love of her life, Darrell H. Herren in Salem. She worked at the Bible Book House in Salem for over 45 years as their bookkeeper. She was involved for many years with Court Street Christian Church, and in February of 1998, she helped plant Countryside Christian Church, which has been her church home since then. She enjoyed small groups at her church, volunteer work at Simonka House, and spending time with family and friends. Joyce will always be remembered by her servant’s heart, amazing and faithful prayer warrior and woman of God.

Joyce was preceded in death by her loving husband, Darrell H. Herren, brother Calvin Samuel, daughter Angela Christenson and son-in-law Richard Bowers. She is survived by her children, Patty and John Boals, Carol Bowers; grandchildren Bill Taylor; Chrissy and Dwayne Metcalf; 11 loving great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2011, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Howell-Edwards-Doerksen Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, May 25, 1 p.m. at Countryside Christian Church, 5775 McLeod Lane NE, Keizer. Contributions may be made to Countryside Christian Church. Private interment at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
