He grew up in the Monmouth area and attended Monmouth Elementary (now Campus) and Central High School. At Central, he participated in many high school activities such as football, baseball, choir, and even coached Little League. While participating in these activities, he developed lifelong friendships that he always cherished. After high school, he attended Salem Tech (now Chemeketa) and then OCE (now Western Oregon).
Lynn then went on to work in the family floor covering business for many years. After that, he had the Carpet Barn and specialized in commercial floor covering while working with his daughter Julie. He took great pride in his accounts such as Salem Health, LDS Facilities, and many school gymnasiums. They were able to travel to a variety of places near and far including Alaska.
He was a member of the Elks for 32 years as well as being a member of the Eagles for 27 years where he held various board positions. Lynn also enjoyed his high school class reunion committee. There is a very special bond with both his 1958 Central High School class and his brother’s ’57 class. They still hold frequent functions to this day.
Lynn loved talking to anyone and everyone, had many close friends and relatives, and didn’t know a stranger. He enjoyed following high school and college sports, especially Oregon State Baseball and Football and kept up with all former and upcoming players. Lynn could talk about sports for days!
Lynn is survived by his partner Char Korte, daughter Julie and son-in-law Mike, granddaughter Jordyn (Ruben) Ybarra, grandson Andy (Rachael) Bevens, and 4 great-grandchildren. He cherished his grandchildren and great-children and was always in the crowd for Jordyn’s childhood sporting events and Andy’s baseball games from Little League to Legion Ball. For his great-grandchildren, he never missed a birthday or opportunity to send them a special card.
Please join us for his celebration of life at the Keizer Eagles at 4090 Cherry Ave NE on Saturday, March 18 at 2:00 pm. Light hors d’oeuvres will be provided. To honor his love of Oregon State, please feel free to wear Beavers clothing!
