Madelyn Canzada Spencer

Born February 9th, 1950 in Silverton, Oregon to Rayburn and Betty Lewis, Madelyn joined her older brother, Marlyn, and sister, Cheryn. Madelyn moved from Silverton to the Salem area when she was 4, and lived there the rest of her life. She graduated from South Salem High School in 1967, met Mark Spencer through a mutual friend while cruising the Hollywood District in Salem. They were later married on May 4, 1970. Madelyn worked for the Oregon State Bureau of Labor until the arrival of their first son, Anthony, in 1970 who was joined two years later by a brother, Michael, and 10 years later a sister, Michelle.

Madelyn enjoyed family history work, cooking, mentoring in her church’s youth group, crossword puzzles, and reading. She also enjoyed fishing with her family when the kids were young.

Madelyn is survived by her husband, Mark Spencer, sister, Cheryn Provost of Plain City, UT, brother-in-law, Dennis Lundahl of Portland, children, Tony and Lisa Spencer of Turner, Michael and Stacey Spencer of Hebo, and Michelle and Lauren Evanoff of Hermiston. She also has three grandchildren, Bridget, Ethan, and Hayden Spencer.

Madelyn passed away at the Salem Hospital on October 22, 2023. Viewing will be at 10 AM, Friday October 27, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (862 45th Ave NE Salem, OR). The funeral will follow at 11 AM at the church. Interment will be at Belcrest Cemetery in South Salem.
