April 26, 1943 – April 24th, 2026
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beautiful, talented Marilyn Jane McMurray on April 24, 2026, two days before her 83rd birthday.
With Marilyn’s passing, we remember a life of great creativity, compassion, and love for her family.
Marilyn was born in Park Rapids, Minnesota to Audrey and Paul Case. She was the youngest of nine children. At the age of thirteen, she moved with her family to Woodburn Oregon where she graduated from high school. She attended Oregon College of Education learning to be a great elementary school teacher and eventually a special education teacher. While in college she fell in love with Larry McMurray and they were married in 1964.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Larry; her sons Trevor McMurray, Adam (Cathy) McMurray, and Aaron (Darcy) McMurray; her grandchildren Lauren (Nat) Gurnee, Bridget (Owen) Fisher, Keagan McMurray, Kinkade McMurray, Lucia McMurray, and Emery McMurray; and her great-grand-daughter, Mabel Cate Gurnee. She was so proud of her family and loved each of them more than they will ever know.
Marilyn touched the lives of so many who had the honor of knowing her. Her love of flowers and her talent as a watercolorist were remarkable. During her later years she created hundreds of lovely paintings, and she provided flower arrangements for 35 years every Sunday for worship at Trinity Covenant Church where she was a member. Thanks be to God for her life and for the gift she was to each of us!
A service to honor Marilyn’s life will be held at 1:00 on Saturday, May 16 at Trinity Covenant Church: 5020 Liberty Road S Salem, OR 97306.
Marilyn was a member of Trinity Covenant Church for 61 years. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to Trinity Covenant Church at the address above or online at www.trinitycovenant.org/give.
