Marsheela Madrigal Tungate, 63, passed away unexpectedly on August 17, 2021.
Marsheela was born in Salem, Oregon on January 9, 1958, and except for brief periods, lived most of her life in Salem. Her last job was as a caretaker at Southern Hills Retirement Center and she loved visiting with the residents, but health issues caused her to retire.
Mar could be a little tough to be around because of her frequently gruff and feisty exterior, but those that knew and loved her know that she had nothing but love in her heart for her sons, grandkids, great-granddaughter, family and friends.
Mar loved being with and was just so proud of all of her grandkids, and she made it a point to be at their events whenever she could. She also had a great love for her longtime best friend, Darla Dunham, and Darla’s extended family as well. Mar loved attending birthday parties and baby showers, and she tried to be there for everyone’s special occasions and celebrations. It seemed she always took time to let people know they were in her thoughts.
Mar was a frequent poster to Facebook, and you could always count on her to give you an encouraging or positive comment. She frequently shared sites she viewed, and her shares have been missed by her Facebook friends and family.
Marsheela’s greatest talent was her salsa; it was loved by family and friends, and she loved making and sharing it. She also never met a bingo game she didn’t like, and could always be counted on to accompany you to the bingo hall, anytime, anywhere.
Mar enjoyed country music, but loved her some Elvis Presley, and anything with his picture on it was always a good gift for her beloved Elvis collection. She also had an impressive collection of snow globes, and her sons understood that whenever they traveled, a snow globe was expected.
Marsheela is survived by two sons, Nick Tungate and Crystal, and Rob Tungate, one brother, Rick Tungate and Vicki, seven grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and many cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Marsheela was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Dick Tungate who passed away in 1990 and Donna Tungate, who passed away in December of 2020.
