Patricia Ann Epperly was born to Hazel Fink and Gordon Schwalen in Amery, Wisconsin on March 19, 1935. Pat and family moved to Oregon when she was 3 yrs old. She Attended Salem High School where she met Harry Epperly and they were married August 23 1952. Harry enlisted in the Air Force and they spent the next 23 ½ years traveling and living on or around 11 different bases from Denver, to California, 3 separate times, Florida, Michigan and England. Pat spent that 23 years raising 5 intelligent, good looking well mannered, children, often by herself for months at a time while Harry was on temporary duty assignments.
When Harry retired they moved to Dallas, Oregon where Pat began working as a real estate agent. With that “Force of Nature” attitude she is known for, she became a Million dollar listing agent. When they moved to Salem, she went to work for Caldwell Banker Real Estate until she retired in 1989. Once they retired, they began to travel, again. They loved visiting friends they knew from the military as well as missions work when they joined S.O.W.E.R.S. They also loved to travel in caravans of RV’ers all over Mexico, where they especially loved parking their motorhome on beaches.
When they tired of the nomadic life, they moved to Waldport, Oregon where we built their home. A few years later when Harry was diagnosed with prostate cancer they sold their home and moved back to the valley. They ended up buying a home in Salem Towne until they moved to Capital Manor. At Capital Manor, Pat has lived at the Villas, the Towers, Manor Care and this last year she has spent in memory care.
Pat is preceded in death by her father & mother, younger sister Judy, and Harry, her husband of 59 years. She is survived by her children, Denise (Jeff), Dean (Debbie), Diane (Wally), Donna (Eddie), Darrin (Laurel) and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
We want to thank Capital Manor staff for the love, kindness and tons of grace you have shown our mom. We also want to thank Serenity Hospice as they helped our mother through this last stage of her life and have been a comfort to us.
