

Peggy Ruth Senske, a longtime resident of Salem, passed away on July 2, 2023. The daughter of Frank and Clara (Couture) Meyers, Peggy was born in Phoenix, Oregon on June 9th, 1931. She grew up in Salem, and attended Salem High School, graduating in 1949. After high school, Peggy went to work for Hunt’s Food where she became a cost account manager until the facility closed in 1957. Later, Peggy worked for the Salem School District in a variety of clerical positions and ultimately as office manager at McKay High School from its opening until she retired in 1991.
While at Hunt’s Food, she met her future husband, Richard Leo Senske, and they were married on November 7, 1953, a marriage that lasted 69 years. They have two children, Kathleen Wan (Larry) of Vancouver, Washington and David Senske (Kari) of South Pasadena, California.
Peggy was a loving, caring, and dedicated wife and mother. She had numerous hobbies and enjoyed painting, reading, gardening, collecting antiques, and traveling with her husband to visit family. She loved to bake and had an extensive collection of recipes. In addition, upon retirement she and Richard did volunteer work at the Mission Mill Museum.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters Maxine Bartruff, Evelyn Cox, Betty Weiss, and brother Harold Meyers. She is survived by her children, brother-in-law Rodney Jipp, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
