Peter Michael Ronai

Born in Hungary to Elizabeth and Ernest Ronai. Emigrated to Sydney, Australia at 2 years old. Graduated first in his class, MD PhD from University of Sydney, with studies at UC Berkeley. Married Dorelle Tod and raised 4 children in Sydney, and Adelaide, Australia. In 1975, Peter and Dorelle immigrated to the US with their children, and Peter practiced Nuclear Medicine at UC Denver. In 1977, the family moved to Kansas where Peter spent 2 years in Radiology residency at KU. Peter’s final move in 1979 brought the family to Salem where he practiced Nuclear Medicine and Radiology at Salem Radiology Consultants and Salem Hospital until 1997. He spent his retirement traveling and helping Dorelle with her medical needs from Ovarian Cancer. He enjoyed participating in Salem Travel Club, Pentacle Community Theater, Willamette Institute of Continued Learning, Apple technology, and Tesla.  He is survived by his four children: Melanie, Kim, Amanda, and Mark, and his five grandchildren: Ari, Emma, Ellie, Miranda, and Christopher. He is additionally survived by his son-in-law Jonathan Durning, sister-in-law Judith Buist , and his dear friend Sherry Collins. He was wise, dedicated to his family, and will be incredibly missed by us all. At Peter’s request there will be no memorial services.
