Philip Roger Patterson, aged 91, of Leon, Kansas, born July 13, 1932, was called to his savior, Jesus Christ, on May 2, 2024, in Dallas, Oregon. A loyal and dedicated family man, he leaves behind a legacy of love and faith.
Phil honorably served his country in the United States Air Force and continued his commitment to service with a 30-year tenure in the Defense Department as an auditor. His distinguished career spanned several locations, including Minnesota, Thailand, and Alaska, concluding in Seattle, Washington upon his retirement.
A man of devout faith, he served as an elder in the Disciples of Christ Churches and touched many lives. Phil was a pillar in each congregation he joined, remembered for his unwavering spirituality and steadfast dedication to the Lord's work.
Phil is survived by his dear wife of 70 loving years, Betty; his son, Roger Patterson (Nancy) of Mims, Florida; his daughter Judy Higgins (Joe) of Salem, OR; and is blessed with a lineage of eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. His daughter Debra Gaines preceded him in death, leaving behind fond memories to be cherished by all who knew her. Debra is survived by her husband Doug Gaines, a devoted son-in-law to Phil.
The Patterson family invites friends and loved ones to commemorate Phil’s faithful journey at a service to be held in his memory on May 23, 2024, at the First Christian Church in Salem, Oregon, at 1pm. In the spirit of his generous heart, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of floral tributes, donations be sent to the Salem First Christian Church (https://salemfcc.org/giving/) or the Alzheimer's Association (https://www.alz.org) as a testament to his enduring spirit.
Phil spent his final days at Dallas Retirement Village, with his dear wife Betty. The family greatly appreciates the compassionate and loving care provided by the staff. He now rests in the assurance of his faith, leaving a lasting imprint on the hearts of all who were privileged to know him.
