

Richard Ritchie, 61, of Salem Oregon passed away on 9 June 2013. Dick began his career working for the State of Oregon at Veteranʼs Affairs and Department of Transportation. The vast majority of Dick's 34 years of public employment was spent working for The Dept of Human Services Dick worked many years as a Hearings Representative. Dick was a fun-loving, TV watching, music listening man born in McMinnville, OR. He was an avid gardener and a real do-it-your-selfer. He was a voracious reader. He loved going to flea markets. He was knowledgable about many topics including history, WWII especially Pearl Harbor, and current events. He loved being a dad taking his son to OMSI, the coast, wildlife refuges and playing yahtzee, cribbage, Battleship and chess. While at North Salem High he played bass guitar and sang vocals for the band “Holiday”. His neighbors, close friends and family will tell you Dick was always there with a helping hand and a hearty laugh.
He is survived by his son Adam and brother Galen (Liz), dear friend Denise Green, exwife Pam, sister-in-law Karen, nephews Brian(Michelle) and Steven(Jill) and nieces Suzanne, Michelle Broadous(Ken) and Shannon Davis(Jesse) and three great-nephews and four great-nieces. His parents, Lester and Phyllis and brother Dennis are already waiting for him on “The Road to Heaven”.
