Bob was born in Chehalis, WA to Jess and Pearl Keene on October 11, 1932. His family moved to Portland, OR in 1932 and to Willamina in 1938. He graduated high school in Sheridan, OR in 1950. In August of 1950, Bob joined the Navy and served with the Seabees during the Korean War. He stayed in service until 1953. Bob attended Western Business College for 2-1/2 years then went to work for Fruehaut Trailer Company. After, he went to work for Bank of America in Modesto, CA for 3-1/2 years. Bob then moved back to Portland, OR and started work for Westinghouse Electric where he remained for 21 years before retiring in 1987. In 1965 Bob married his main and his last love, Sandie Gearhart who gave him sons Rob and Steve. Bob was a life member of the Keizer Elks Lodge for 42 years and a Salem Eagles member and volunteer for 18 years. He was an avid dancer and also enjoyed card playing, camping, and traveling.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother Pearl Keene/Lucas, sister Sharon Ilku, daughters Kathy and Shelley, and son Scott. Survivors include brothers Jim and John Hyder, sons Jerry, Rob and Steve, and daughters Debbie and Shelley, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bob loved his family tremendously.
