Born May 4, 1932, in Salem to William A. and Walburga Krebs. He grew up on the family hop farm in the Talbot area. The family moved to Salem in 1946. Ron graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1949. He attended the University of Portland and Willamette University. He married Marlene Raschko in 1955. He served in the navy and was stationed in Hawaii. Upon his discharge, he and Marlene moved to Salem, and he commuted to work the farms in the Talbot area and Independence. He retired in 1995. Ron enjoyed traveling but his real passions were flying, deer and elk hunting, and deep-sea fishing in Oregon and Alaska. Ron was a long-time parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church, and his faith was very important to him. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother William D. He is survived by his wife Marlene, brother Ken, and daughter Annie Morton.
Family, faith, and commitment to one another were the cornerstone of Marlene and Ron’s 68 years of marriage. Ron had 54 nieces and nephews whom he loved and supported. In addition, he had life-long friends whose lives were enriched just by knowing him. He will be missed.
