Ronald Douglas Sheets

Ronald Douglas (Doug) Sheets was born July 3, 1954. He went by his middle name Doug as his dad was also Ronald. He died peacefully at 71 years old on November 20, 2025 at his home in Jefferson, Oregon. He lived in Jefferson since July 1996.

Doug was born July 3rd, 1954 in Seattle, WA. He was the second son born to Ronald and BonnIe Sheets of 4 sons and 1 daughter. After his family moved to Salem, Oregon, he attended Salem Academy and South Salem High School where he participated in gymnastics, pole vault and the music programs. Doug graduated from Azusa Pacific University in 1977 with a BA in Music and Minor in Youth Ministry. Doug met his wife, Jan, while performing in the musical “Fiddler on the Roof” in the fall of 1973 at APU. They were married August 31, 1974 in La Puente, CA. After graduation from Azusa, their daughter Beth was born and they moved to Salem Oregon to be near family. They attended People’s church while living in Salem and Doug worked for Traveler’s Insurance. Their son Daniel was born in Salem in 1981.

Doug started working as a youth minister in 1988 in Dallas Oregon. He later transitioned to worship pastor in Corvallis Oregon. He led worship at Jefferson Baptist Church 17 years starting in 1994.

He enjoyed bike riding, fishing, watching Fox News, and not playing board games.

He is survived by his wife Jan, children Beth (Mike) and Danny, grandchildren Anika, Ben, Jack, Finn and Jon, siblings Dan (Tammy) Duane (Gail) Dwight (Sue) and Yvonne (Kirk) and a plethora of nieces and nephews and many friends. Both his parents, Ron & Bonnie preceded him in death as well as one granddaughter, Lily.

A memorial service will be held on January 10, 2026 at Jefferson Baptist Church, 15002 Jefferson Highway 99E SE, Jefferson, OR 973352. Time to be determined.
