

Sheila was born on November 29, 1947 in Salem and was the daughter of Glen and Fay (Annand) Conklin. She grew up in Salem where she attended North Salem High School and was part of the first graduating class from McNary High School. She attended Oregon State University.
Sheila worked in office administration for Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oregon and later Catamaran. She retired in December of 2014.
She had many enjoyments that filled her time. She enjoyed Sudoku, Solitaire, watching John Wayne movies and cheering on her favorite NASCAR driver, Kasey Kahne. She loved animals. In her younger years she showed horses and she adored many pets throughout her life. She relished the outdoors, snow and winter, celebrating Christmas with her family and antique shopping. She loved being around people. She had many friends that she cherished and she was most comfortable when she was surrounded by her family. She was the one that everyone called “mom” and she was the kind of friend that many only dreamed about. She touched many lives throughout her journey and will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
Sheila is survived by her children, Heather Voigt of Salem, Heath Plemmons of Salem, Amanda Brunk of Keizer and Allie Conklin of Salem and her sister, Janet Conklin of Salem along with 10 grandchildren. Her parents, Glen and Fay and her brother, Charles all preceded her in death.
A celebration of Sheila’s life will be held on Monday, August 3, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Gateway Foursquare Church. As a special tribute to Sheila, her family has requested that those in attendance choose a color other than black to wear in her memory. A private committal will be at Belcrest Memorial. Contributions may be made in Sheila’s memory to the ALS Association at www.alsa.org. Arrangements entrusted to Howell, Edwards, Doerksen Funeral Home.
