Born on June 27, 1970, in Salem, Oregon, Tim lived most of his life in his beloved hometown, where he touched countless lives with his warmth and sense of humor. Tim had a rare gift: the ability to make everyone feel welcome and truly seen, often with a well-timed (and sometimes inappropriate) joke or a perfectly executed one-liner. If you knew Tim, you knew he could light up a room with his wit, and if you didn't know him, you were probably still trying to figure out how that guy knew everyone.
After graduating high school, he answered the call to serve, joining the Army and was stationed at various posts throughout the world before landing at Fort Lewis in Washington to be closer to his family. His commitment to serving others continued back home following his tenure in the military, where he dedicated much of his career to the police force and SWAT teams in Hubbard and Woodburn. Tim was particularly proud of his role as an explosive breacher & drug detection canine handler, working alongside his loyal companions, Buzz and Grizz.
He took immense pride in his six children – Chandler, Dylan, Megan, Skylar, Hayden, and Grace – whom he adored with all his heart. If you ever needed proof of Tim’s softer side, you could hear it in the way he spoke about them. His friends and family will forever cherish the memories they shared with him—his protective nature, loyalty, and willingness to help without hesitation will never be forgotten.
Tim leaves behind his children, his loving parents Sharon and Frank Cobos, his sister Twyla, and brothers Matthew, Jeremy, Carlos, and Francisco.
A service celebrating Tim’s life will be held on December 5th, at 1:30 pm at St. Edward Catholic Church in Keizer, Oregon. In lieu of sending flowers, the family suggests making a donation to the Pacific Northwest Veterans Alliance in Tim’s memory.
While Tim is no longer with us, the echoes of his laughter, love, and generosity will long remain in the memories of those who knew him.
