

Travis Martin Mize was born May 29, 1981 to Anne MacDonald (O’Malley) and Troy Mize in Salem, OR. He passed away peacefully at his home on July 6, 2021 in Salem, OR. From an early age Travis was a kind, and caring person. Anyone who met him would instantly fall in love with his charismatic and funny personality. In his teen years, Travis began work at the early age of 16 and began his career with local grocery stores as their butcher. Travis was known for his love of sports and water. He would often be found swimming or somewhere near water. Right before his passing, Travis had begun to learn how to paddleboard. Travis was involved with every school sport imaginable. He was particularly fond of golfing, basketball, baseball, football, swimming, martial arts and pool billiards.
In Travis’ late 20s he began to struggle with mental health issues involving anxiety, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Around 2019, Travis started working with Horses of Hope where he would find therapy in caring for and training the horses. Travis loved the horses he cared for and they loved him just as much. Through working with Horses of Hope, he found mental peace and relaxation. Travis is loved and dearly missed by family and friends. Travis is survived by his mother, Anne O’Malley (Kevin), father, Troy Mize, grandfather, Eugene MacDonald (Joan), sister, Tracy Mize (La Darius), niece, Zebedee Mize (Brian), uncles, Lance Mize and Chris Mize, and aunts, Marla Mize and Sherrie Harrison MacDonald, step-brother, Jed Dowell, step-sisters, Erica Dowell and Alicia Dowell. Travis is predeceased by his grandmothers, Juanita Gray MacDonald and Higee Mize, and grandfather, Jerry Mize. Travis’ family will be holding a memorial service in his honor at a later date.
