It is hard to accept that he is gone. His love for his family was second only to his love for Christ. I know he is in a better place, but his departure from us here leaves a hole in my heart and in our lives. I so wish his grandchildren had all had more time to get to know him. He taught not by words but by constant example. He strove to be that best at all he did, Christian, friend, husband, father, grandfather, engineer and he succeeded.

Unfortunately, we did not have the privilege of knowing Wayne for very long, but over the past year was able to have lunch with him and Shirley after church on many occasions and have them for dinner in our home.  I always thought of him as a "gentle giant", in that he had a large physical presence, but a kind gentle and quiet nature.  And we appreciated his sense of humor, as well.  Wish we had known him longer, but he will be missed and we will be here for Shirley.  Our condolences and prayers are with all his family and friends.   Bev and Desi Vasquez, Cameron Park, CA

I will remember Wayne as a man of gentle strength, a man of integrity, a man of compassion, a man who loved the heavenly Father with every fiber of his being. He followed God's direction, faithfully, lovingly and spiritually. As I looked at the pictures so lovingly selected for our viewing by his wife Shirley and his children it was all to clear that he was a man who lived with joy, dignity and endless love for his family. If someone might ask "what is the measure of a man"? I could only reply "look into the eyes of his family, that's where you will see the measure of a man". To the family: Those who have lived in our hearts are never really gone. For love, which is timeless, never ceases to exist. What a wonderful legacy he left.

We had the privilege of worshipping and working with Wayne at the congregation in Folsom.  He was a gentle giant - not only in stature, but in character as well.

We enjoyed his leading of the singing and appreciate his service to the Lord.  His legacy lives on with his family and we pray they will all be reunited in heaven one day.

Thank you Wayne and Shirley for your example of a wonderful couple with your love rooted in Christ.

I am more convinced than ever after viewing all the photos that my cousin, Wayne, could have looked the world over and never found a better wife or helpmate. Our heart goes out to Shirley and all the rest of the family.  We thank God for Wayne's life.  He was a blessing to many!  Bill and Vonda Fletcher

Wayne was my beloved younger brother who until I was married was more than a brother, because our mother worked in the fields on the farm, and I became a major care taker of my younger brothers. I was not around during his teen years, only for visits from time to time. I did see in those years that he had a time controling his temper, but no one who knew him in later years would ever know that he had a temper. I believe the Lord, that he loved, helped him overcome and he had victory over that. He loved to tease. That was the charming part of his personality. He also loved to give to others. My memory that I will hold dear to my heart is our time in Death Valley. This  was a  time when some of our family gatherd in November for the Forty Niner Days. I can just see him standing with a group to sing  patriotic songs. Then he often helped the college fund by bidding on, and many times buying, one of the pictures.The money helped fund some youths college.Shirley must have a closet full of those pictures. There is much I could say about my kind, loving brother, and I am so happy that I got to live near him the last few year. These last few year helped me know him better. For now I just want to say that I loved him, and will see him in heaven someday, because I know he loved our Lord Jesus Christ. Wayne did not change over the years. Well, maybe his hire color. Wayne was a good buddy during high school and through the years. We will all miss him.

My Dad was a fun-loving, gentle and caring man, that will be missed by all and especially his family.  I am thankful he got to meet his grandson Tyler and saddened that he won't be able to get to know him and play with him.  Dad's grandkids were so special to him and playing with them lit up his eyes like nothing else - that among so many other things will be missed.

I miss him more than anyone knows. My dad was a special as they come, if you knew him at all you know what I mean. He will be missed by all,
