Our beloved mother, grandma, great grandma and great great grandma passed away peacefully on Friday, February 16, 2018. Bev was born on March 20, 1922 to Irvin A. Johnson and Edith Mace Johnson in Salt Lake City. She graduated from South High School where she met the love of her life and life-long sweetheart, Robert Madsen. Bob and "Skinny" were married on August 16, 1941 in Salt Lake City and were married for 68 amazing years before Bob passed away in 2010. Together, they had five children, 18 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren and loved nothing more than being surrounded by family. Bob and Bev spent many nights dancing at the Rainbow Rendezvous and enjoyed hosting dinner parties in their beautiful and immaculate home. They had countless friends who they never lost track of throughout their life. Bev was a hard worker who was always looking out for her family and as a young girl, took special care of her aunts by making bread pudding, doing their laundry, then making their deliveries on her bicycle. She worked at Litton Industries for many years. Bev is famous for her delicious potato salad and loved nothing more than entertaining her family and friends. She was always up for an adventure with her grandkids, always dressed to perfection, and always waited on the step with a big smile until you drove away. She truly had a heart of gold and will be remembered for her fun-loving attitude, her sweet personality, and her positive outlook on life. Bev is survived by her children Lynda (Ron) Stringham, Karen (Ray) van Uitert, Kent (Trish) Madsen, and Judy Wigren and preceded in death by her loving husband, an infant son, brother Ray, sister Jerri, and son-in-law Randy Wigren.
A special thanks to her hospice nurse Marie and other Encompass Hospice staff, as well as to her CNAs "and you know who you are."
A funeral service will be held at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with a viewing to be held from 1:00-1:45 p.m. that day.
