

Frances Reed York, 88, of South Salt Lake, passed away peacefully at her home on February 20, 2016, with her loving husband by her side. She was born on January 3, 1928, in Salt Lake City to Shirley Reed and Nancy Jacobs. She graduated from South High School in 1945 and married Boyd York, the love of her life, in 1947. Frances and Boyd were high school sweethearts, together for 71 wonderful years and married for 68.
Frances had a long and rewarding life, full of great stories that she loved to share with family and friends. She worked for Edison Brothers Shoes as a young woman, then later retired after a long career with First Security Bank/BankAmericard. Frances enjoyed the outdoors and spent years fishing, camping, boating and water-skiing with Boyd and their daughter, Cathy. Family always came first for Frances and she cherished time spent with them.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Boyd, as well as her daughter, Cathy (Red) York; three grandchildren, Amanda York, Tori (Rick) Davie and Zack (Bevany) Smith; nine great-grandchildren, Spencer (Harlie) Reynolds and Scott York; Demri, Kaden, Kyler, Tristan and Addilyn Davie; and Brooklyn and Blakely Smith; and two great-great grandchildren, Remington and Ryder Reynolds.
A viewing service will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 25 at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. Funeral services will take place at the same location the following day, Friday, February 26, at 11:00 a.m. There will be an additional viewing at 10:00 a.m. to 10:45, Friday prior to the service.
