Karen Draper Garrett, 72, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2018, with her family by her side. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on October 2, 1945 to Morris J and NaVieve Larson Draper, the third of six children. She graduated from Highland High School in 1964. She married Randall J Garrett in the Salt Lake Temple on September 8, 1967. They were blessed with four children. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings.
Karen loved her family unconditionally and always spoke gentle and kind with never a negative word to say about anyone or anything. Karen, very naturally, loved her Heavenly Father. She loved being a homemaker and was very talented at sewing, quilting and cross stitch. She spent many years doing genealogical research and organizing many family histories. Family and grand-children were the joy of her life. We will all miss her positive and cheerful attitude, sense of humor and loving, non-judgmental way.
Karen is survived by her husband, Rand and children Jedd (Trisha) Garrett, Lisa Ballard, Jennifer (Nick) Healy, and Laura (Shane) Webster and her fourteen grand children: Emma, Dawson & Adeline Garrett; Remington (Amanda), Gabriella, Jackson & Annie Ballard; Madalin, Morgan, McKenna & Savannah Healy; Hanna, Parker & Jake Webster; her brothers Lorey (Naoma) Draper; Kurt (Lynn) Draper & sister Marsha D Fryer and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her father & mother, sister Janet D Poulsen and brother Dale J Draper.
In honor of a sweet, loving, patient wife, a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 3, 2018, at the Draper 17th ward, 1617 E 12700 S Draper, UT. A visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 PM and on Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM prior to the services at the church.
