Maria (Mary) Kichas Hall passed away August 6, 2014 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mary was born December 24, 1933 to Nicholas Kichas and Anna (Kamprani) Kichas. She was a graduate of East High School in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Mary’s mother and father immigrated to the Salt Lake City area from Greece. Her father Nickolas was from Nemea, Greece and her mother Anna (Kamprani) was from the beach city of Kiato, Greece, both cities reside within the Corinthia region of Greece. They immigrated to the SLC area in the early 1900’s and opened a restaurant in the Walker building, and later opened James Grocery on 100 South in a little building that still stands today.
Mom was a devote mother to her 5 children, who all loved her and appreciated her total devotion. Mary was an avid Jazz fan, who knew more about sports and stats than most men! Her children seriously considered burying her in her Jazz shirt knowing this would make her laugh in heaven. She also impressed many with her vast knowledge of classic cars.
Mom loved animals and had dozens over the years, often saying that she loved and trusted them more than humans! We are happy to know that she has been reunited with all of them, and the vision of them all running to her in heaven and jumping up and kissing and licking her face and knocking her over with all the excitement and love warms our hearts.
Mom’s little known claim to fame is that she was a hand model. We wish we had copies of the many magazines she was featured in!
Mom, we your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren all love you to the moon and back and you are so sorely missed. We are so happy that you are now our own personal angel, knowing that you being the prankster that you are, that we have many delightful and exciting visits from you in the many years to come, until we ourselves join you in heaven. Until then our love and our prayers are sent to you nightly. With all our heartfelt love and admiration on a job well done, we love you mommy, grandma, and great-grandma!
Mary was preceded in death by her two wonderful brothers, Sam and James Kitchas. She is survived by her 5 children: Nikki (Hall) Waggoner of Utah, Jeri (Hall) Wilson of California, John Hall of Utah, Kristan Hall of Utah, and James Hall of Utah; 14 grandchildren: Michelle, Melinda, and Mindy Waggoner of Oaklahoma and Michael Waggoner of Utah, Jessica Mitchell of California, Jason Casper of California, Cameron Casper of Utah, Jake Wilson of Arizona, Randi Wilson of Utah, Lucas Wilson of California, Dillon and Demi Hall of Utah, Hans (Josh) Hansen of Utah and Laurence Weller of Utah; and 7 Great-Grandchildren: Delaney Mitchell, Dominic and Vincent Casper, Madison and Calvin Casper, Coby Hall and Ryker Higgins.
With special acknowledgement to Jean Ashley & John Pedersen for their ongoing love and support.
