

Patricia H. Huntsman passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 23, 2016, in Salt Lake City. Born April 17, 1935 to Hiett Maxfield and Hazel Jennie Hansen in Salt Lake City. Proceeded in death by her husband Courtney (December 23, 2012) and their twin son and daughter at birth (July 5, 1966). Pat graduated from Salida (Colorado) High School in 1954, and Westminster College in 1958. She taught Kindergarten at Franklin Elementary and 5th grade at Dilworth elementary from 1958 to 1964. Pat taught at the First Baptist Nursery School, and later became the director of the First Baptist Pre-Kindergarten. She also worked at Highland Cove Retirement Center, where her mother and Aunt Thelma (Mimi) lived. She married Courtney C. Huntsman on March 7, 1963 at First Baptist Church of Salt Lake City, where she was a member for 60 years. Pat loved being a member of First Baptist Church. But mostly, she loved the people of First Baptist. She was very active in her church, which provided her with much joy and happiness. Pat was always happy. You never saw her without a smile and a pleasant greeting. She lived a long and happy life. She was a very accomplished pianist and enjoyed playing the piano whenever she had the opportunity. Pat was very active in many organizations. She was a member of the Rainbow Girls and Campfire Girls of Salida, Colorado; member of the Future Teachers of America at Westminster College; She was a member of both the Martha Chapter #7 and Radiant Chapter #12 of the Order of Eastern Star. She has been a member of the Order of Eastern Star since 1953; She served as Worthy Matron of Mizpah Chapter #5 in 1995, along with her husband Courtney as Worthy Patron; Three time Past Grand Organist for the Order of Eastern Star of Utah; member of Lybia Temple No. 32, Daughters of the Nile; Princess Musician for the Daughters of the Nile for 25 years; member of the Tri-W Class of First Baptist Church for many years; member of the American Baptist Women of Utah; She sang with the First Baptist Church Choir, and the Sunrise Choir on Easter mornings at the Salt Lake Masonic Temple. Survived by sons Scott (Tonya) and Douglas. Granddaughters Randi Johnson (Joe) and Britney Huntsman; Grandson Ethan Huntsman. Sister Sandra Clegg (Jerry) and brother Gerald Hansen (Sharyl). Numerous nephews and a niece. A memorial service in Pat’s honor will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at noon at First Baptist Church of Salt Lake City. 777 South 1300 East.
