

A.W. Bratcher died peacefully in his sleep Friday morning, October 8, 2010 in Sagecrest Alzheimer’s Facility, San Angelo, Texas. He was born September 11, 1925 in Nashville, AR. to A.W.Bratcher, Sr. and Addie Lee Bratcher.
A.W. was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clifford, Doyle, Fletcher, Glen; sisters, Chloie Murray, Ruby Calaway, Qunnie Cook, Ila Fae Mathis, and Snowie Mae Teeters. A.W. is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joy Bratcher of San Angelo; son, Laylan Bratcher and wife, Linda of San Angelo; daughter, Gay Elmore and husband, Hershel of Walton, WV, daughter, Brenda Bratcher of Carrollton, TX; grandchildren, Scott Bratcher and wife Shelly of Lubbock, TX, Stephanie Wright and husband, Jody of Grand Prairie, TX, Kara Martinez of Savannah, GA, Andrea Martinez of Carrollton, TX, Sherri Elmore and friend Heather of Columbus, OH, Shane Elmore and wife, Heather of Walton, WV, and Shawna Powers and husband Josh of Walton, WV. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and sister- in- law Ann Bratcher and brother-in-law Monroe Teeters.
A.W. grew up in the Draw and O’Donnell, Texas area. He is a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II. He worked in the oil field for most of his life. In later years he had a roustabout service and pumped oil wells in Sterling City, Texas. He is a member of First Baptist Church of San Angelo, Texas.
