Barbara J. Race

She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her children, Linda McKay, Karen Ferguson, Ed Race, Helen Shanafelt and Phil Race. She is also survived by two sisters, Isiabelle Wilson and Lois Brownell, two brothers, Ralph and Ray Hamlin, grandchildren, Rick, John and Lisa McKay, Pete Race, Rachel Morgan, Sarah Salisbury, Tim Senecal, Troy Henry, and Mackenzie Fette, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Doris Hamlin, her husband Harold Race, daughter Sandy Senecal and grandchildren, Scott Ferguson and Casey Shanafelt and two sisters, Katherine Van Dusen Harrington and Doris Jean DeHaas.

Mom was born April 19, 1932 in Binghamton, NY. She was a dutiful Air Force wife, following dad, with their growing brood, to bases in England, Germany, Okinawa and numerous bases throughout the United States. She was a long-time member of College Hills Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the church Ensemble and worked for many years at Strike It Rich, formerly B&W Merchandise.

Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Johnson's Funeral Home on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 11 AM with burial to follow at Lawnhaven Cemetery.

We would like to give a special thank you to the staff and nurses at The Regency House and Hospice of San Angelo.
