Billy Carl Burrell Sr.

Billy attended San Angelo schools. He was in the Navy for two tours and was stationed in Alaska, Cuba, and South Carolina. Billy was a firefighter for 32 years and obtained the rank of Captain. He went on to obtain a Broker’s license in real estate and was active for 40 years.

Bill married Elta Smith in 1951 and had three children. He went on to marry Jonnie Barrows, whom predeceased him. He later married Shirley Goetz Burrell.

Billy was a proud member of the Elks Lodge for 52 years. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed gambling, listening to live music, and traveling. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and many funny stories.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; spouse, Jonnie Barrows Burrell; siblings, Floyd Burrell, Nadine Johnson, Gladys Morris, Dorothy Truett; and daughter, Debra Wood.

Billy is survived by his spouse, Shirley Goetz Burrell; sister, Jeannie Thigpen; children, Barbara Baldwin and husband Greg, Billy C. Burrell, Jr. and wife Andrea, Tamra Goetz, and Larry Goetz; grandchildren, Leslie Alexander, Dorcy Swindell, Kelly Burrell, and Zaki Alexander. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 6-8 PM at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 2 PM at Johnson’s Funeral Home with interment to follow at Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
