

Carl F. Haverland, 92, of Leander, TX died Monday, May 5, 2025 after a short illness. Carl was born Nov. 20, 1932, in Runnels County, TX, to Frederick and Anna Haverland. He is survived by, two daughters, Charlotte D'Anne Walton of Leander, TX and Lisa Summers of Burleson, TX; six grandchildren, Heather Castano and husband Gabriel, Heath Walton, Hunter Walton and wife Sara, Elizabeth Dohanich and husband Chas, Amber Holley and husband Justin, and Justin Haverland and wife Crysten; 8 great grandchildren, Chase, Cayden, Avery, Julia, John, Natalie, Payton, and Kynzie, a sister Pauline Nord and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Gladys Haverland of San Angelo, TX; his son, Michael Haverland; and his parents, Frederick and Anna Haverland; two sisters Maurena Krueger and Viola Sparks. Carl served in the Korean War as a truck driver and Morse code operator. When he returned home, he married his sweetheart Gladys Heise in June of 1956. He attended San Angelo Business School and earned his accounting certification. Carl was retired in 1994, after 30 years, working as an accountant from the Texas Department of Transportation in San Angelo, TX. Dad was a social guy and he could talk to anyone and everyone. With his kind smile and sense of humor you would always leave smiling or chuckling. He was a great story teller and was known for always having a story to share with you. His favorite section of the newspaper were the comics, but most of all he loved his family and spending time with them. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Miles, TX where as a young man he joined his father in helping to build this beautiful church. Viewing will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Miles, TX. Burial will follow in Miles Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Hunter Walton, Justin Haverland, Gabriel Castano, Chas Dohanich, Johnny Cox and Larry Cox. The family wishes to thank all the devoted caregivers of St. David’s Medical Center in Round Rock, TX . If you wish, memorials may be given to The Concho Valley Regional Food Bank of San Angelo, TX, where he volunteered for many years or The West Texas Rehab in San Angelo, TX.
