Dennis Wayne Cockburn, 74, of San Angelo, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021. He was born on March 25, 1947 in San Angelo, TX to Dan and Bertha Cockburn. Dennis attended Lake View High School and then went on to join the United States Navy. He had a career in the oilfield working for several oilfield companies. Dennis married Terri Pope on August 4, 1978. He had a passion for fishing and the outdoors. Dennis will always be remembered for his grandchildren, love of fishing and humor. He was preceded in death by his parents Dan and Bertha Cockburn; brother Joe Ward; sister-in-law Vivian Cockburn and his nephew Bubba Ward. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Terri; daughter Kelly Byrom and husband Mike; step daughter Sherece Hasty; brothers Bill Ward and wife Tina and Danny Cockburn; sister-in-law Barbara Ward; grandchildren Ashlee Helms, Garrett Peek, Tanner Peek and wife Taryn, Tyler Daigle and Trista; and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A family and friends gathering will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Johnson’s Funeral Home. This will be the only gathering in remembrance of Dennis.
