

D.F. Thompson Holub Brookshire died Friday, June 22, 2012 in San Angelo, Texas. Family visitation will be Sunday, June 24, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012 at The Heights with Brother Roger Blocker officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
She was born in Ballinger, Texas to Oscar and Nora Thompson. She was one of fifteen children. She married in 1937 to Herbert Holub. They lived in San Angelo, Texas. They had four children: Bobby, Sandra, Gloria and Mark. She loved and attended Park Heights and in later years “The Heights”. She was a Sunday school teacher and in later years she took care of children in her home.
After losing her husband Herbert Holub in 1968, Dorothy met and married Ray Brookshire in 1977. She lived the last years of her life at the Cedar Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation where she was surrounded by people who cared for her.
On the drives her daughter Gloria and she took, Dorothy always wanted to visit her church, “The Heights”, and cruise River Drive. She never tired of seeing the places she loved and missed.
She was preceded in death by Ray Brookshire, her daughter Sandra Lewis and her son Bobby Holub. She is survived by her daughter Gloria and son in-law Gerald Jones; son Mark Holub; a sister Joyce Marshall from Amarillo, TX; one brother, Virgil Thompson of Tomball, TX; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
