Elton Clinton Kiesling passed into heaven on 02/01/2012. Elton was born in Fayette County Texas on 04/01/19 the son of Edwin and Olivia Kiesling. The family lived in LaGrange, TX during his early childhood before moving west and settling in Miles, TX. Elton made local headlines as the first man from Tom Green County to volunteer for the Army during World War II. Elton served with honor in World War II and Korea before retiring as a Lt. Colonel. Following his service Elton and his wife, Mary Kiesling (nee Buff) and their two children Eugene and Edith lived mostly in San Angelo, where they were founding members of Calvary Lutheran Church and for a few years in Albuquerque, NM. Elton had jobs with Montgomery Ward and others before becoming the owner of a Gulf Oil Service station in San Angelo. Upon retirement Elton and Mary embarked on numerous journeys across the country in their RV – eventually driving through all continuous 48 states and Canada. In 1999 he and Mary moved to Tulsa, OK to be closer to family. Following Mary’s passing in 2001 after 58 years of marriage Elton continued to live in Tulsa where, at the age of 88 he found renewed life through his marriage to Edith O’Shields. Elton was two months shy of his 93rd birthday and five months shy of his 5th wedding anniversary. Elton is survived by his current wife Edith, his son Gene, his daughter Edith Norris and her husband Ron; his sister Arlene Ratliff; his brother Erwin Kiesling; his grandchildren Christopher Kiesling, Rob Fenstermacher and Mary Ann Rambo; and his great-grandchildren Andrew and Noah Kiesling, Emily and Hannah Fenstermacher and Andy Rambo. A viewing will be held Friday, February 3rd from 5:00 to 7:00 at Johnson Funeral home in San Angelo with a funeral 2:00 Saturday February 4th at Calvary Lutheran Church and burial at Miles Cemetery.
