Eva’s humble beginnings started when she was born in Karnes County, Texas, on April 25, 1930, to Tomas Rodriguez and Claudia Escobar.
Eva married the love of her life, Frank James (Jimmy) Morales Jr. on June 25, 1960, and went on to share 55 years together until his death in 2015. There was not a day that passed when she didn’t continue to speak lovingly of him, and their many wonderful years spent together.
Eva was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and had a passion for serving her parish in the funeral ministry, hospitality ministry and as a Eucharistic Minister. She was a good and faithful servant to our Lord Jesus Christ and to the Virgen de Guadalupe and dutifully supported her husband who was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 13514. She also belonged to the San Vicente prayer community for many years. When she wasn’t volunteering, she could either be found maintaining her bountiful rose garden, crocheting, crafting, or embroidering family keepsakes. Some of her favorite times were spent amongst her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren during numerous family gatherings. Her laughter and humor were always a source of joy to all who spent time with her.
Eva is preceded in death by her parents Tomas Rodriguez and Claudia Escobar; her husband, Frank James (Jimmy) Morales, Jr., her infant daughter Maria Elena, her siblings: Jose Rodriguez, Maclovia Ybarra, Juan Rodriguez, Adan Rodriguez, Enrique Rodriguez, Ofelia Lopez, Abel Escobar, Maria Estella Perez, Leonel (LD) Rodriguez, Maria Juanita Bautista, and David McGinnis.
Eva is survived by her daughter Elva Rood, her favorite son-in-law Chuck Rood and her son Thomas Morales and her favorite daughter-in-law Darlene Morales. She is also survived by her sister Irene Escobar; grandchildren Leslie Kaigler and husband KD, Angela Rood-Keith and husband Kevin Keith, and Patrick Rood and wife Kimmy; as well as great-grandchildren Ryan Ruiz, Charlotte “Charlie” Rood, Austin Rood, Callie Keith, Jackson Rood and Ainsley Keith. In addition, she left behind many nieces and nephews whom she loved and adored.
We would like to thank the staff of Angel Care and HOSA (Hospice of San Angelo) for their compassion and care over the past six months. Most of all Tommy and Darlene for opening their home to her for the past three years and for the love, devotion and exceptional care extended to her by Darlene.

Recitation of the Divine Mercy will be at 6 p.m., Monday, March 20, at Johnson’s Funeral Home by Tomas Alvarez. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 21, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Joey Faylona officiating. Burial will follow at the Morales family cemetery in Ft. McKavett.
