Gladys (Willis) Thames, 77, of San Angelo, passed from this life and into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, at home surrounded by loved ones after a brief illness. She was born to Bill B. and Janie Willis on July 29, 1944. She graduated from Lake View High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy who served our country proudly. She was a loving, faithful wife of thirty years. She was a cherished, beloved mother to her four children and three bonus adult children. She was a precious Grannie to twenty-two grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was a devoted homemaker and a certified accountant for many years. Her love language was cooking for her family. She was a professional cake decorator and an excellent seamstress who took great pride in making clothes for her daughters and granddaughters. As an amateur photographer, she took great pleasure in capturing the beauty of wildflowers along the Texas highways. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed being known as "The Hat Lady" at church. She is survived by her husband, Lenard Thames, Sr., her children Michele Long (Travis), Troy Reed III (Shanny), Tammy Moorehead (Jeff), and Robert Pittman (Jennifer), brother Bill Willis, sister Anna Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jimmie Willis. Visitation will be from 10am-12pm on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Johnson's Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow the visitation at 2pm at Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Pastor Bobby Roger presiding.
