

Helen was born August 23rd, 1926 in San Angelo, Texas, to T. Lee and Gertrude Walter (Mammaw). Helen was a lifetime resident of San Angelo and was known for her loving and kind nature as a nurse for 25 years at Shannon Clinic. She touched the lives of many of patients who remember her especially for dispensing hugs as well as clinical care. She was a member of St. Paul Presbyterian Church.
Helen was married to Fred L. Rippetoe, Sr., on October 8th, 1945 in San Angelo. He preceded her in death on June 17th, 1997.
Survivors include son Freddie Lee Rippetoe, Jr. and his wife Vicki of Houston; daughter Judy Rippetoe and long time companion Lynette Crockett of San Angelo; two grandchildren and their families, Kelly and Mark Vittum and daughter Madeline of Sandy, Utah; Grant and Sarah Rippetoe and their children Eli, Summer and Arwen of Hong Kong; and special niece Yvonne and Ron Nason and their son Chris .
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 17th from 6:00—8:00 p.m. at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for Wednesday, January 18th at 10:00 a.m. in Johnson’s Funeral Home chapel with Glenda Harbert officiating. Pallbearers are Grant Rippetoe, Mark Vittum, Gary Griffin, Bob Crill, Blaine Smith, J. M. Burkett, Jr., John D. Ward, and Hal Lee Ward. Burial will follow in Belvedere Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Helen Joyce Walter Rippetoe Nursing Scholarship fund at Angelo State University or to their favorite charities.
