

Henry was born June 1, 1919 in Coleman, TX to Henry L. and Beulah (Harris) King. Henry grew up in the San Angelo area where he graduated from high school. He served in Burma, India during World War II as a radio operator supporting U. S. bombers in the Pacific. He achieved the rank of Tech Sergeant and was awarded the bronze star in 1945.
Henry’s career in business spanned from sales to management in the transportation industry. His profession as a salesman was launched with Southwest Wheel in San Angelo and advanced into management of various companies: White Trucks of Big Spring, Southwest Wheel of Lubbock, Prior Products and Kelsey Hayes of Elkhart, Indiana, and Seminole, Oklahoma. He owned, operated, and managed Western Trailer of Abilene with his son, Tommy from 1976 until his retirement in 2005. His loving wife and family sustained and brought great pride throughout his life. He was an avid golfer which he enjoyed immensely for many years.
Henry was married to Lucille Marie Feist on March 1, 1947 in San Angelo. They were blessed with 64 years of marriage and a family of five children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Ralph and Gordon King and sister Faydelle Ollinger. Survivors include his wife Lucille Marie King of San Angelo; son Tommy King and wife Marsha of Buffalo Gap, TX.; daughters Kathy Hammons and husband Walter, Sheila Stewart both of San Angelo, Jenny Kinzie and husband Doug of Tulsa, OK and Mary Husted and husband Alden of San Angelo; sisters Billye Williams, Ruby Bolf, Gaynelle Bishop all of San Angelo, Annie Louise Whittekin of Florida and Ruth Mae Glass of Dallas; thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Visitation, with family present, will be from 5:30-7:00 PM Thursday, February 10 at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, February 11 at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Burial will follow at 1:30 pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Rowena, TX.
Honorary bearers are Jason Hammons, Joshua Hammons, Ryan Hammons, Ryan McDonald, Jordan King, and Spencer Kinzie. Altar servers for funeral mass are grandsons Jared and Carl Husted. Service arrangements are provided by Johnson’s Funeral Home.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nursing staff of Regency House and Hospice of San Angelo for their attentive, compassionate care the past three months.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials may be made to Hospice of San Angelo, 36 E Twohig Ave Ste 1100 or to a charity of their choice.
