Irene “Nana” Gleason, 78, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012 in a local hospital. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Johnson’s Funeral Home.
Irene was born in Runnels County on September 18, 1933 to Ed and Frances Kohutek.
Irene was the most special, loving, caring sister, wife, mother and Nana a family could have. Her family was her life and she spent every moment worrying about and caring for them, enriching their lives with her love. Her smile and gentle, peaceful nature brightened every person she came in contact with from her family to her friends to her co-workers. As a teller at various banks and credit unions, people always looked forward to being helped by her with her sweet disposition and friendly personality. Time spent with her grandchildren were some of the most precious moments she cherished always. Our hearts are broken she is no longer on earth but we take comfort that she will always be with us in our hearts and most treasured memories. We will cherish our mother, Nana, sister, aunt, and friend forever and will know she is with us when we see a rainbow, hummingbirds, or butterflies. We love you Mom! We love you Nana!
Irene is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Robert Gleason.
She is survived by her children Gwen Swaringin and husband Jim, David Gleason and wife Lisa, Tina Callahan and husband Jason; her brothers Leon Janek and wife Glenda, Wes Janek and wife Penney, a sister Eddie Mae Ashley; grandchildren Jennifer Kitten, Jared Callahan, Stephanie Callahan, Tara Craven, Sara Johnson; step grandchildren Crystal Martin, Wayne Swaringin, Sonja Crownover, Tisha Davis and 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
