

Ivan James Everson went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 with his beloved wife at his side. Ivan was born April 12, 1930 in Crawford, Nebraska to Ivan Fred and Mary Elizabeth Everson. At the age of 2, his family moved to Texas, the place he called home. He spent 4 years in the United States Army where he honorably served his Country in the Korean War and was awarded several medals for his service. Ivan married the love of his life, Mary Ruth Young in 1955 and together they made their home all over Texas, in Austin, Bay City, and El Campo. But their love of travel led them to sell their home and live on the road for 8 years, traveling with friends and making new ones, finally retiring in San Angelo. After settling in San Angelo, they continued traveling with the Three Rivers Good Sam RV Club. Ivan was also very involved with the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 7, District 1, and leaves behind many dear friends in these organizations.
Ivan is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Ruth; daughters Elizabeth Martin and husband Charles of Porter, Texas, Cynthia Neely and husband Lewis of Pearland, Texas, and Rebecca Tews and husband E. J. of Midlothian, Texas; grandchildren Katrina Neely-Dienes, Tessa Neely, Heidi Neely, Joshua Tews, Meghan Tews; Great-grandchild Daniela Adele Dienes; brother Dewey White of San Angelo; sister Julia Petri and husband August of Driftwood, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, October 15, 2010 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Johnsons Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Fairmount Cemetery with Rev. Shirley Cheesman and L.C. Messer officiating. Arrangements under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home, San Angelo, TX.
