

The Memorial Service will be 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. A.L. “Scooter” McCurdy officiating. Jack was born in New Hampton, Iowa on September 16, 1937 to Pete C. Beckman and Arlene M. Dana-Beckman. He attended school in and around New Hampton and entered service in the army from Dec 1955 thru Jan 1961, and finished high school in army. He is a member of the Lakeview Bible Church.
He married Shirley Jean Farris Caulfron on Sept. 17, 1964, till she passed away March 5, 1993 in Iowa. Jack worked at John Deere Tractor Works for 34 years. He raced Novas Stock Cars for 4 years in the mid 60’s. He won the season championship the last year. He moved to San Angelo in Feb. 1994 and married Janie Barton Blakeney June 6, 1998 at Glen Meadows Baptist Church. He worked at the Bait Box around 3 years. He made close friends with Bill Harriss and Roy Hubbard. He also worked at Wes-T-Go around a year and a half; he made good friends with Charlene Eudy and other people as well.
He was preceded in death by parents, wife-Shirley Jean Beckman, two step-daughters, Sheryl Clark and Cindy Smoot, Grandson Christopher Spencer, brother-Donald Beckman, two great grandson’s, Justin Tackett and Calvin Spencer, a special brother-in-law-Jack Farris.
He is survived by beautiful wife, Janie B, a special sister-in-law, Cleo Farris, two brothers, Darwin Beckman and wife Shirley of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Jerry Beckman and wife Carol of Marion, Iowa, 2 Stepdaughters Terry Dettmer of Waverly, Iowa, and Jennifer and husband Ben Paz, of San Angelo; one stepson Wesley Blakeney and girlfriend Shelly, of Harper, Texas, Step son in law Rick Clark of New Braunfels, 13 step kids, 30 Grandkids, 15 Great Grandkids. He always said that’s not bad for not being a father, but these are mine, and I love all of them.
A special thanks to Dr. Herrington and Susan, also thanks to Cardiac Pulmonary Rehab- Cecilia, Rose Ann and Bobbie for all their kindness and help. Also we want to thank Dr. Prieto and staff, Dr.Studt and staff, and to Odysey Hospice for their help and kindness. Thanks to family and friends that have been so kind to us, and to our special friends Christi and staff at Sonic Drive-In #2 on Sherwood Way, where Jack really enjoyed feeding the birds.
He was the official photographer for the Coachman Club. He took pictures for Janie’s albums (14 of them with 500 pictures per album) and the people that came out there without charging them anything. Bill Harriss and Jack also made a 4ft by 8ft Photo Wall Case W/Lights all around it, so they could put pictures of the patrons and other pictures. He also made 12 by 18 framed pictures of the Bands, and put them on the wall.
