James Wesley Flint

Jim was born to the late Donald Fraser Flint and Audrey Louise (Ritterskamp) Flint in St.Louis, Missouri and grew up in Brentwood, MO. He was Preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Ruth Ann (Brown) and by a sister Jean Lee Severns (Don).

He is survived by his son John Stephen Flint (Ashley), daughter Christine Banister; granddaughters, Grace, Liberty, and Jubilee Flint all of Ft. Worth; and a brother, Tom Fraser Flint (Lori) of Philadelphia, PA and several nieces and nephews.

He attended Drury College before enlisting in the Air Force where he served at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS, twice at Goodfellow Air Force Base, San Angelo, TX, and at Misawa Japan

Jim was an ordained minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Baptist denomination.

He attended Boyce Bible school in Louisville KY, graduated from Missouri Baptist College with his BA degree. He went on to receive his Master of Divinity degree from Midwestern Baptist Seminary in Kansas City, MO. He pursued a Doctoral program from the Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, KY received his doctorate from New Orleans Baptist Seminary in 2022, he was too ill to attend the graduation ceremony.

The churches he pastored during his career were 1st Baptist of Patoka, IL, Springtown Baptist Church in Potosi, MO, Creston Baptist Church, Creston, IL and First Baptist Church of Century, FL. Following Those churches, he was a volunteer chaplain at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, then as chaplain at State Prison in northwest Escambia county, Florida. He then volunteered as chaplain at a local Hospice in Pensacola, FL. Which was his favorite occupation.

Some of the secular positions that Jim held when first married and while going to school and Ruth pursued her doctorate of speech pathology were house parents at a halfway house in LA, CA; Michael's Arts and Crafts as a framer; BSU secretary at North Illinois University; assistant manager of Religious Book Discount House in Whittier, CA; then manager in Chicago, IL; Monroe Calculators as a service rep; manager of Heritage Book Store in Gainesville, FL; and a security guard at Fox Creek Estates. All while serving the Lord and raising a family.

Jim enjoyed doing Family Search ancestry transcribing. He kept up with all the latest politics. He was very knowledgeable about history and coin collecting and relaxed doing cross stitch projects. For a short time he sang with the Twin mountain Tonesmen. On November 7 2020 Jim married the second love of his life, Yvonne Shannon Carter. Together, they had 5 happy years together.

Funeral service will be at Grace Temple Baptist Church, 105 Guthrie in San Angelo under the direction of Johnson's Dignity Funeral home February 6, 2026 at 10am with Christopher Sweet Officiating.

His body will be transported to Dallas National Cemetery and be laid to rest with military honors next to his first wife, Ruth.
