Jean Odom Easley

Jean was born to Margaret and Worth Odom on June 22, 1929 at her grandparents’ home in Ozona, Texas along with her identical twin, Helen. She attended high school in Iraan, Texas, and college at Highland University and the University of Denver. While raising four sons, Jean lived in Red Bluff, California and Hereford, Texas. She moved to San Angelo in 1976 with her youngest son, Clay, and worked for Medical Arts Radiologists for several years. She later became a homemaker and caregiver for her parents.

Jean has been an active member of Sierra Vista Methodist Church for many years and has volunteered for numerous organizations including the Republican Women of the Concho Valley, Shannon Hospital Auxillary, and San Angelo Visitors’ Center. She was a loving and giving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her oldest son, Hal, and her sisters, Helen Holland and Dorothy Jennings.

She is survived by her sons Steven and wife Mary, Wade and wife Holly and Clay Easley; grandchildren Megan Easley Burkhart, Tanner, Mac, Haley, Aubrey, Shelby, Sydney, Kyle and Erin Easley, and Amanda Easley Waits; great grandchildren Major, Merritt, and Mazie Burkhart; daughter-in-law Cindy Easley Fangman, husband Rick, and daughter Lily, nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews and friends who loved her dearly. Jean was a surrogate mother and grandmother to Mary Gail Stinnett and her family of San Angelo, Texas after Helen died. We can only imagine the welcome you received from your Savior, Jesus, and Hal, Nan and Danny.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, May 17, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at Sierra Vista Methodist Church. Graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m., Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ozona, Texas.

Memorials may be made to Sierra Vista Methodist Church, Hospice of San Angelo, or the church or organization of your choice.
