

She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, May 25, 1932 to Ernest and Merrill (Leffingwell) Farris. She was the granddaughter of Robert and Florence (Butterfield) Farris of Virginia and Eugene and Orpha (Rice) Leffingwell of Wisconsin.
She graduated from Milwaukee County General Hospital Nursing School in 1953 and received her Registered Nurse diploma. She graduated with Highest Honors from Arkansas Tech University in 1984 with a BSN. Jean had a long career in the nursing field that included running a nursing school in Alpine, Texas.
Jean joined the Air Force in 1956 and was a 1st Lieutenant serving as a nurse in Salina, Kansas where she met Robert C. (Bob) Wallman an Air Force Chaplain. They were married June 21, 1957. They spent the next 16 years traveling from base to base across the U.S. and overseas.
Jean was a lifelong active member of the Presbyterian Church. She taught Sunday School and led Bible studies for many years.
Jean was active in many organizations throughout her life including Officers Wives Club, Protestant Wives of the Chapel, American Red Cross, Girl Scouts of America, Eastern Star, Hospice of San Angelo, Adult Literacy Council, RSVP and Colonial Dames VII Century. Jean was elected Woman of the Year in 1975 for Beta Sigma Phi and was awarded the Order of the Rose. She a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution where she served as Chapter Regent for the General William Lewis Chapter of Morrilton, Arkansas and Pocahontas Chapter of San Angelo and as State Registrar for the Texas DAR.
She was predeceased by her parents, an infant daughter, Sharon Denise who was born and died in 1960 and her sister Ina Bradford.
Jean is survived by her husband Bob Wallman, and three children Sandra Franke and husband Ronald; Steven Wallman all of San Angelo; Scott Wallman and wife Tamela of Newport News, Virginia; four grandchildren William and Robert Franke and Steven and Kimberly Wallman.

Funeral services will be held at St. Paul Presbyterian Church, March 23rd 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. There will be a visitation at Johnson’s Funeral Home March 22nd from 6:00-8:00 pm.
