

Jessie Jewel Montgomery Clark (Granny to all her knew her) went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 14, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was born on February 8, 1919 on a farm in Fisher County, Texas to John Milton Montgomery and Ester Ruth Webb Montgomery. She later moved to Mertzon, Texas where she met the love of her life Willie Raymond Clark. They married in Sweetwater, Texas on May 17, 1939. Raymond and Jessie were life-long ranchers until she could no longer get on a horse. The decision to retire from ranching came shortly thereafter. Raymond and Jessie were blessed with three children, Patricia Jean, Emerson Ray and Joe Ralph. Jessie was well known for her love of family, cooking, hunting, fishing and expressing her opinion.
Jessie was proceeded in death by her husband of 44 years; parents and step-mother, Clarentine “Clara” Gertrude West Montgomery; children Patricia Jean Clark Bryant, Emerson Ray Clark and Joe Ralph Clark; siblings, Johnny Ruth Montgomery Sharp, Billie Louise Montgomery Bowman, Tommy Sue Montgomery Skelton, Robert Zane Montgomery, Mary Evelyn Montgomery Corprew and Willard Alan “Sonny” Montgomery. She is survived by her siblings Jo Anne Montgomery Birse and James Milton “Bud” Montgomery; grandchildren Karen Bryant Travland, Leslyn Bryant McManus and husband Beaver, Susan Renae Bryant, Cindy Rae Clark, Raymond Len Clark and wife Dana, Trey Adam Clark and Ashlee Bree Clark; great-grandchildren, Chase Bernard Akin and wife Jamie, Emma Jewel Travland, Danielle Low Walts and husband Matt, Kristin Michelle Tyler, Zachary Ray Clark and Courtney Ann Clark and great-great grandchildren, Driskell Morgan Akin and Jaeger Ray Patterson and numerous nieces and nephews and her constant companions Princess and her birds. Visitation will be at Johnson’s Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas on Monday, September 17 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be at the Mertzon Cemetery on Tuesday, September 18 at 10:00 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Len Clark, Trey Clark, Chase Akin, Beaver McManus, Matt Walts, and Billy Mack Swanzy. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Johnson, Johnny Wales, Charles Ray Sharp, Joe Sharp, Bill Swanzy, Donnie Sharp, Jack Sharp, Bobby Sharp, Jr. and Tommy Bowman.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the West Texas Boys Ranch, Irion County 4-H or your charity of choice.
