Joanne Mercer Steele

Joanne Steele, 80, passed away August 19, 2015 in San Angelo. She was born to Houston O. and Mildred Mercer on June 20, 1935 in Sterling City, Texas. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church in San Angelo with Rev. Sam Hunnicutt officiating.

Joanne was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church of San Angelo where she taught Sunday School also. She enjoyed volunteering for the Area Agency on Aging. She was also a Member of the HOSTS program with SAISD. One of her favorite things to do was studying and watching birds.

She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Johnson and husband Bill of Kempner, TX; Dana Mayfield and husband Briand of Colorado City, TX. and Ginny Fuchs and husband Todd of San Angelo. Grandchildren, Megan Johnson of Copperas Cove, TX.; Chad Johnson and wife Erin of Copperas Cove, TX.; Holly Lewis and husband Axel of Arlington,TX.; Wendy Mayfield of Lafayette, LA.; Annie Fuchs of San Angelo; Chase Fuchs and wife Sarah Fuchs of San Angelo; Clay and wife Jill Fuchs of Cypress,TX. and Callie Fuchs of San Angelo. Great Grandchildren, Kendric Steward, Nolan Johnson, Teagan Johnson, Mayzee Lewis, Braden Fuchs and Mason Fuchs and host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles M. Mercer.. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Cedar Manor, Gentiva Hospice and the PCU Unit at Community Hospital.
