John Salazar Cedillo

He served his country proudly during the Korean War in the United States Marine Corps. He returned home to be with his family and began a career with Terrill Manufacturing Company and later followed his dreams of becoming a firefighter and retired with the San Angelo Fire Department after 27-years of service. John was an avid golfer and enjoyed putting around with friends at Santa Fe golf course. In his early years he was a member of the GI Forum and the Pan-American Golf Association. He was a board member of Habitat for Humanity, La Esperanza Clinic, a founder of the “Pancho Clause” Christmas Program in the Barrio, Elections Judge for over 20-years at the Southside Recreation Center, avid member of Bethel United Methodist Church and involved with many civic and community organizations. His greatest loves were faith, family and friends.

John is survived by his wife, Rosa E. Cedillo of San Angelo; daughter and sons, Helen Cedillo of San Antonio; Oscar Cedillo and wife Kristen of Kyle; John Cedillo III and girlfriend Heather Alexsa of Orlando; and Gabriel Cedillo of San Angelo. His surviving family include Amelia Franco, Audelia Alcala, Armando Cedillo all of San Angelo; Grandson Elijah Cedillo of Kyle, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Welcoming him at the gates of heaven are his parents Juan and Lupe Cedillo, brother Sam Cedillo, sister Alicia Rodriguez and Tio Antonio and Tia Eulogia. Pallbearers are Andy Cedillo, Ricky DeLaCruz, Jerry Montelongo, Larry Montelongo, Richard Cedillo and Mark Soto.

Under the direction of Johnson’s Funeral Home a rosary will be held on Wednesday, April 27th at 7 p.m. at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Thursday, April 28th at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
